My Top5 Romantic Movies

Today, I want to talk about my top5 romantic movie that I saw recently. I’ve seen really lots of movies and I liked them all but I chose my top5.

Number5:  Heartbeats

This is the film directed by director Xavier Dolan at 2010. Xavier Dolan is very promising director of his ages. He is also very famous as an actor. This movie, Heartbeats’ main leading role is him.  He wrote and directed his first film, I Killed My Mother, at age 20, after dropping out of university. He debuted at Canne film festival and he became a rising star. After that movie, he made Heartbeats. It follows the story of two friends who both fall in love with the same man. If you just read this story plot, you could feel that this has nothing special and suspect what is different. However, I think this movie is one of the unique movies that I ever seen. Those two friends who fought because of one man have not same sex. One is a female and one is a male. I picked this very unique because this story didn’t deal with obvious live story. They dealt with the very delicate emotion of gay man and the reaction of friends. Anyway they both rejected from man but they reacted so cool. I thought it was very great ending and special. Also, you can experience the unique world of Xavier Dolan’s movie world.

Number4: Begin Again.

This film made a big hit in Korea and I loved this movie. I saw this movie at the theater but I also heard this movie. This is a kind of music film which has a story about a music industry. I cannot say this film is exactly a ‘romantic movie’ because this movie didn’t tell directly to audiences about love. They just play the guitar, sing a song and become happy. Honestly, after I saw this movie, I felt the happiest emotion during that day. I thought that this thing is really a ‘movie’ and I should feel happy like this when I see a movie. I felt it is very romantic because I can feel the actors’ feeling through music.

Number3: About time

At the age of 21, Tim (the main role) discovers he can travel in time and change what happens and has happened in his own life. He wants to use this ability to find his girlfriend. This film was written and directed by Richard Curtis who is one of the best writers or directors in the world. I love his most movies and I realized that my Top 1, 2, 3 movies are all written by him. I was very surprised because I never knew that before. I think my taste of movie fits with him well. I love the whole story. His story uses the boring concept which is ‘Time traveling’ but he progress the movie very specially. I love the atmosphere and very placid progress but not boring. It also tells about a normal couple that exist near us in everyday life and gave me an opportunity to rethink of the true meaning of ‘Love’.

Number2: Notting hill

Notting Hill is a 1999 British romantic comedy film set in Notting Hill, London, released on 21 May 1999. The screenplay was by Richard Curtis like I mentioned before. William Thacker (Hugh Grant) owns an independent travel bookshop in Notting Hill. He walked in the street of notting hill and bought a orange juice. After, he encountered Hollywood superstar Anna Scott (Julia Roberts). Minute later, they collide in the street and his orange juice spills on her clothes. Will offers his house nearby for Anna to change. Afterwards she surprises him with a kiss. This film’s story was not that special but its atmosphere was very special and romantic. Most ordinary films progress whit a viewpoint of female but this progresses with a male viewpoint. The normal man fell in love with a huge actress who is loved from many people. This film tells us about man’s detailed emotion and great love. I love the last scene of Notting hill. This is the most romantic scene I ever seen and I really like the o.s.t of this scene. It boost the romantic feeling.

Number 1: Love actually.

When I think about Christmas, honestly it couldn’t appeal my mind. I don’t know the exact reason but because I think I didn’t go the church. Anyway, I think one thing annually when I met with Christmas. It is a film ‘Love Actually’. I undoubtedly see this movie at Christmas. I can’t remember the exact day of starting point but it became my habit. Love actually made me feel very warm because this tells about a kind of romance. This is the reason why I think this concept is more special than any other movies. This film didn’t treat just one romance but treated many love stories with ubiquitous progress. It tell us the love of normal people, famous people’s love like singer or Prime minister of United Kingdom or wrong romance or the children’s cute romance. I think you also remember the famous scenes. I also remember most of films. I just want to see this movie one more time and want to feel the warm that I felt at every Christmas. Those are my favorite two scenes.
